Lake Grubb Nature Park

671 Hempfield Hill Rd | West Hempfield Township

Lake Grubb is the perfect multi-generational hike. The trail around the lake is only a mile long, so it's great for kids and seniors. The park was a former iron ore mine and the lake was the ore pit, which was later filled with water. Along the trail there are several vantage points over looking the lake and several spots that takes you right beside the lake. You often see turtles basking on a log and frogs and tadpoles at the waters edge. The trail is shaded all around, so it's perfect on a hot day.

The main trail is very easy to follow. There are a few steep hills, but nothing too bad. The park also offers 1/4 mile ADA accessible trail. There are fishing areas, picnic tables, a playground and restrooms with flush toilets. This is one of the few trails that does not allow dogs, so leave your furry friends at home. There is also no swimming or boating on the lake.
