point to point
This type of trail starts and ends in different locations. The mileage for this type of trail is for the length in one direction.
loop trail
This type of trail takes you back to the trailhead without repeating portions of the trail.
semi-loop trail
This is an out & back trail that has a loop for a portion of the trail. Some portions of the trail will be repeated.
